Ingredients for Hungarian Tart:

  1. 250 g soft butter.
  2. 1 cup sugar.
  3. 2 eggs.
  4. 1 tsp vanilla essence.
  5. 100 ml oil.
  6. 3 1/2 cups sifted plain flour.
  7. 4 1/2 tsp baking powder.
  8. 1 tin jam of choice(290g).
  9. 1/2 cup desiccated coconut.
  10. Icing sugar for dusting.

Step by step how to cook Hungarian Tart:

  1. Cream butter with sugar, add eggs, oil, vanilla and beat well..
  2. Sift in flour and baking powder. Mix till a soft dough. If it's too sticky add little more flour..
  3. Seperate the dough into 2 parts. Press one half into a greased tray, spread jam evenly.Sprinkle the coconut all over..
  4. Grate rest of the dough over covering the jam and bake at 180°c for 20/25mins or till golden.Allow to cool then dust with icing sugar and cut into squares. Enjoy!.
