Ingredients for Manchurian Gravy:

  1. For manchurian balls.
  2. 1 carrot, grated.
  3. 5 tbsp cabbage, shredded.
  4. 5 tbsp spring onion, chopped.
  5. 1/2 onion, finely chopped.
  6. 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste.
  7. 1 tsp chilli sauce.
  8. 1/2 tsp salt.
  9. 2 tbsp maida / plain flour.
  10. 2 tbsp cornflour.
  11. Oil, for frying.
  12. For gravy.
  13. 2 tbsp oil.
  14. 1 inch ginger, finely chopped.
  15. 3 clove garlic, finely chopped.
  16. 1 chilli, slit.
  17. 4 tbsp spring onion, chopped (seasonal).
  18. 1/2 onion, finely chopped.
  19. 1/2 capsicum, sliced.
  20. 2 tbsp vinegar.
  21. 2 tbsp soy sauce.
  22. 1 tsp chilli sauce.
  23. 2 tbsp tomato sauce.
  24. 1/2 tsp pepper powder.
  25. 1/4 tsp salt.
  26. 1 and 1/2 cup water.
  27. 2 tsp cornflour.

Step by step how to cook Manchurian Gravy:

  1. In a large bowl take 1 carrot, 5 tbsp cabbage, 2 tbsp spring onion, 1/2 onion and 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste. Also add 1 tsp chilli sauce, 1/2 tsp salt..
  2. Mix well until everything is combined..
  3. Now add 2 tbsp maida, 2 tbsp cornflour and mix well..
  4. Make a soft dough. Add more maida if required..
  5. Now prepare a small ball sized balls..
  6. Deep fry in hot oil keeping the flame on medium..
  7. Stir occasionally, until the balls turn golden brown..
  8. Take out the manchurian balls and keep aside..
  9. Now in a large kadhai / sauce pan, heat 2 tbsp oil and saute 1 inch ginger, 3 clove garlic, 1 chilli and 2 tbsp spring onion..
  10. Add 1/2 onion and stir fry on high flame..
  11. Now add 1/2 capsicum and stir fry until it shrinks slightly..
  12. Add 2 tbsp vinegar, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp chilli sauce, 2 tbsp tomato sauce, 1/2 tsp pepper powder and 1/4 tsp salt..
  13. Stir fry making sure all the sauces are well combined..
  14. Add in 1 and 1/4 cup water and bring it to a boil on medium flame..
  15. In a small bowl take 2 tsp cornflour and 1/4 cup water..
  16. Mix well forming a lump-free slurry..
  17. Pour in cornflour slurry and mix well..
  18. Continue to boil until the gravy thickens and turns glossy..
  19. Add in prepared veg manchurian balls, 2 tbsp spring onion and mix well..
  20. Serve veg manchurian gravy with fried rice..
