Ingredients for Millet Kichdi:

  1. 1/2 cup little millet (or cous cous).
  2. 1/2 cup toor daal.
  3. 1.5 tsp pure ghee.
  4. 1 tsp ginger garlic paste.
  5. 1 medium sized onion, finely chopped.
  6. 4 baby carrots, diced.
  7. 1/2 green pepper, finely chopped.
  8. 4 cherry tomatoes.
  9. 1 green chilli.
  10. 2 tbsp dried fenugreek leaves.
  11. 2.5 cups water.
  12. Spices.
  13. Salt.
  14. Chilli Powder.
  15. Turmeric Powder.
  16. Garam Masala.

Step by step how to cook Millet Kichdi:

  1. In a medium sized bowl, add the toor daal and millet. Wash and soak for 1 hour..
  2. Wash and chop all vegetables..
  3. In a pressure cooker, add ghee, ginger garlic paste, cumin seeds and green chilli. Fry for 30 seconds..
  4. Add the onions and fry for 1 minute, until translucent..
  5. Add all the vegetables..
  6. Add all the spices and fry for 2-3 mins..
  7. Drain out the water from the soaked daal-millet mixture..
  8. Add it to the pressure cooker and fry for 1 min..
  9. Add 2.5 cups of water..
  10. Pressure cook for 3 whistles..
  11. Dry roast the fenugreek leaves..
  12. Once the Kichdi is ready, add the fenugreek and mix well..
  13. Serve in a bowl with spicy potato crisps..
