Ingredients for Aloo Suran Tikki (Potato & Yam Cutlet):
- 2 potatoes, boiled & mashed.
- 1 small yam / suran (equal to one potato), boiled & mashed.
- 2 tbsp. oil.
- 1 1/2 onion, chopped.
- 1 tsp. ginger, grated.
- 2 green chilies, chopped.
- to taste salt.
- 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder.
- 2 tbsp. kasuri methi (crushed).
- oil to shallow fry.
Step by step how to cook Aloo Suran Tikki (Potato & Yam Cutlet):
- Heat oil in a pan and saute 1 onion, ginger and chilies till slightly light brown in colour. Add the mashed potato and yam, salt and turmeric powder and fry for 2-3 minutes..
- Add the crushed kasuri methi and fry for a minute. Keep aside to cool. Now add the remaining 1/2 onion and form into a dough..
- Make equal portions out of it and give it a tikki shape. Refrigerate them for 30 minutes before frying..
- Heat little oil in a pan and shallow fry them few at a time till golden brown on both sides. Serve hot with sauce or any chutney..
